Weights @ Home
During regular times, we have newborns come in often for weight checks. We want to be sure they’re not losing too much weight at first, then that they’re regaining and continuing to gain appropriately.
With the current shelter-in-place order and reallocation of medical resources, it can be difficult to see your pediatrician as frequently as we would like.
If your baby is struggling with feeding or weight gain, or you’re just monitoring weight gain hunkered down at home, we can help. We will do an initial in person evaluation (either in our office or in your home for an additional fee) and set up a feeding plan. If you have a scale at home, great, otherwise we’ll loan you one. Then we’ll do follow ups by video and help you with your baby’s feeding and growth. Your pediatrician will get regular updates on your baby’s progress.
Weights @ Home service includes:
Loaner scale
Spreadsheet to help with data tracking
Expected/goal volumes for milk intake
Managing fortification of expressed milk or formula
Managing mixed feeding, how to combine breast, bottle and any other kind of feeding
Help interpreting data
Tongue and lip tie releases can be done during the same visit if that visit is in the office. If a tie is diagnosed at a home visit, we’ll try to get a second provider out to help with a release, or schedule another visit so the release can be done.
If you’d like to get started with our Weights @ Home service, please schedule an office visit or text us to set up a home visit.
